Pupils and staff are set to benefit from a complete kitchen refit after head chef Tim Fletcher scooped first prize of £60,000 of catering equipment in a competition run by the hospitality industry’s leading magazine, Caterer and Hotelkeeper in association with the Catering Equipment Distributors Association (CEDA). More than 430 organisations entered the prize draw - one of the biggest ever seen in the hospitality market – but Tim’s entry was the one pulled out of the cooking pot.
Beechen Cliff School will now receive design advice from a CEDA member which will commission and install the school’s choice of equipment from a possible 16 supplier sponsors up to the value of £5,000 per supplier.
"A lot of our equipment is very old and the space was not originally designed as a kitchen,” said Tim. “We are always discussing ways to improve flows and to be given the opportunity to fulfil our plans is amazing."
Caterer will follow the progress of the kitchen refurbishment and publish a three-page feature once it is finished as part of the magazine’s My New Kitchen series.
