On Wednesday 19th of March, Mr Murphy and a group of students and pupils spent the day painting 40 sheets of plywood that will form the main cladding for the climbing wall. This was a huge job, the weight of the wood alone is over one and a half tonnes, each sheet had to be carried by two people from the storage area out onto the grass surface to be painted. The surface that had to be covered is over 1200 square feet. Despite the size of the task, due to the hard work of the team, the task was completed in one day.

The paint was thinned down, and then applied using rollers as a base, and then splattered afterwards to produce a picture based on the Cornish artist Kurt Jackson. These individual panels will eventually be put up on the wall ‘jigsaw’ fashion, so that when the wall is seen from the park, it will blend in to the trees surrounding it.
We would like to offer our congratulations and thanks to all of the students involved, who have now earned themselves the right to free access to the wall once it is built.
