Music Appeal

Music at Beechen Cliff is an extraordinary success.  Over 122 pupils each year receive instrument lessons at the school.  There is a swing band, jazz band, senior band, choir, junior band, guitar group, folk group and so it goes on.  These ensembles regularly win competitions and tour abroad.  But there is still a massive potential to unlock – we are being held back by the atrocious music facilities.

The buildings are dilapidated and not fit for purpose.  Two music rooms are at opposite ends on the school, the main music block is a rotting, leaking wooden hut – freezing in the winter and stifling in the summer.  Acoustically the buildings have been condemned.  Peripatetic teaching is now having to be done in the Deputy Headmaster’s office.  There is no satisfactory performance space.

The Local Authority has pledged to help us with music classrooms – but we have a bigger vision for music at Beechen Cliff. We want a first class Music Centre with: 9 practice rooms 2 small ensemble spaces recording studio recital room larger performing space 2 music classrooms

Your Help

Turning these plans into a reality will massively enhance the musical experience at Beechen Cliff — and will of course benefit future generations of children coming to the school.  We will have a source of funding to replace the classrooms but to fulfil the exciting music vision for the school we need your help.

By making a donation every penny raised through this appeal will go towards improving the resources and facilities of the Music Department. Since Beechen Cliff School is a registered charity it is also possible for us to reclaim the tax from the Inland Revenue on your donations increasing the value of your donations.  Every little of bit of money we raise also has the potential to be multiplied up from matched funding arrangements from other external grants.  We can also offer you the opportunity to spread the cost of your donation over 12 months.
