Christmas Fayre &

Year 7 /8 Football Tournament

Saturday November 24th sees the Annual Christmas Fayre take place at Beechen Cliff School. It has been very pleasing to see donations begin to arrive at the School Office and I know that the members of the PTA are grateful for all items received.  The various stalls, refreshments and draw tickets regularly bring in £2,500 - £3,000 per annum and this level of support will help to provide a range of benefits in the coming months.


The aim of the Fayre is to offer something for everyone, and as always there will be toys, books, games, stocking fillers, crafts, toiletries, gifts and a bottle stall. The Grand raffle, Hamper raffle, christmas stalls and a 'chocolate tombola' will run alonside our Year 7 & 8 Football tournament.

We plan to have a ‘Cook-in’ event on November 23rd from 3.20 p.m. until 5.30 p.m. in the cookery room (T3).  The baking (mainly cakes) will be sold at the Christmas Fayre the following day. For those of you who can’t make the cook-in you might like to bake a cake for the Fayre at home.  If so, please could you deliver your cakes, small or large, to the School’s Reception before the afternoon of the 23rd November; the PTA would be most grateful.  Or you could supply us with some ingredients, so that we can do the job for you:-

  1. Self raising flour
  2. Eggs
  3. Caster sugar
  4. Butter or margarine

Last year’s Christmas Fayre raised approximately £2,700, with your help we could raise more this year!  If you are able to display the poster advertising the Fayre, which is included in this Wednesday Letter, we would be very grateful.

Raffle Tickets:  Raffle tickets have now been sent out, I hope you have received them.  Please check with your son/daughter if you have not received any raffle tickets.

The Raffle is one way in which everyone can support the School and raise those much needed funds! 

It would be appreciated if you could return the money and counterfoils, along with any unsold tickets, to the School Office by Friday 16th November at the very latest.  For security reasons, we would prefer it if payment could be made by cheque, payable to Beechen Cliff School PTA, and placed in an envelope marked with the name and tutor group of your son/daughter.

Here is a reminder of the items we need:

  1. Chocolate items for the Chocolate Tombola – a very popular attraction!
  2. Cakes – big or small
  3. Bottles – alcoholic and non-alcoholic, any shape and size!
  4. Items for the colour stall – red and gold this year
  5. Toiletries
  6. Books
  7. Fancy goods, unwanted gifts and crafts
  8. Raffle prizes
  9. Items for the white elephant stall
  10. Good quality second-hand uniform - send in what your son has outgrown and make some room in your cupboards!  If it is sold and you clearly mark it with a price, your son’s name and tutor group, you can receive 50% of the selling price.
  11. Mincemeat and plain flour for mince pies

If you cannot attend the Fayre but would still like to support it, you may like to consider a financial donation.  Any amount is gratefully appreciated.  Please make cheques payable to Beechen Cliff School PTA.

Help Needed
Perhaps you could spare some time after school on Friday 23rd November or maybe you could help for an hour or so on Saturday 24th November.  Please complete and return the reply slip to the School Office and I will contact you a week or two before the Fayre.
