Answers to two questions I was asked are below:
- According to Wiltshire CC who issued the chart giving different levels of income and support, “Residual” means Gross Taxable Pay but there are some items which should not be included such as
- personal relief
- payments under covenant
- non-taxable income

- An adviser at the Student Loan Company told me the current rate of interest was 4.8%. There is no other rate, i.e.a lower rate to start off. The rate is assessed each September, so insofar as it is linked to inflation it may increase given the current trend in the RPI.
