SEND Information

At Beechen Cliff School we are ambitious for all our pupils and strive to support them so that they can achieve their aspirations and become well-rounded, confident and compassionate
individuals who go on to live fulfilled lives and make a positive contribution to society. In order to do this, many steps are taken to support them through their learning journey. Quality
teaching is vital; however, for some pupils there are occasions when additional support may be needed to help them fully access the learning environment and achieve their potential.

Our school SEND Provision is overseen by our SENDCo, Ms Jo Blair.

She can be contacted via email: jblair@beechencliff.org.uk

Supporting From Home

We are constantly looking to engage with parents and support them to support their child at home. One recent initiative is explained below.

Solution Focused Therapy and Neurodiversity

In November 2023, Jo Blair (SENDCo) and Tara Gretton (Solution Focused Therapist) delivered bespoke training for parents of pupils who are neurodiverse, helping parents to consider how they might use the principles of Solution Focused Therapy to support positive, curious and purposeful communication at home.

Tara and Jo were delighted at how well received the session was and how enthusiastic parents were.  For so many parents, life with teenagers can be challenging, for parents of pupils who are neurodiverse these challenges can be more pronounced. It was great to come together and consider how making some small changes at home using this approach can help pupils and families focus on positive change and avoid getting caught in the cycle of dreaded future and troubled past.

A video of the session can be found here.

Resources from the session are available below:
