Year 11 is a very important year for pupils culminating in the GCSE exams at the end of the year. Whilst many pupils will have completed some GCSEs pieces of Coursework or Controlled Assessments in the previous year, Year 11 contains the majority of all external assessments and exams. Effective preparation for Trial (Mock) Examinations and all GCSE Assessments is essential and the information here should support this process.
Each subject has provided a breakdown of what assessments will take place throughout the course and the weighting of Public Examinations, Controlled Assessments and Coursework. A list of recommended revision resources is also supplied by each subject.
Further information and revision materials will be given to pupils by their subject teachers but the information here will act a strong basis for supporting pupils in their preparation for these important assessments.
Guidance and support on revision will be provided by tutors throughout the year and particularly in the build-up to exams. We also run revision skills workshops for pupils prior to the Trial Examinations and before the ‘run in’ to the summer examinations.
The Year 11 Revision Evening in November will also give further guidance to parents in supporting their sons in preparing for GCSE exams.
Information on pupils’ progress and attainment will be reported to parents throughout the year as detailed below. Where there is a concern individual subject teachers or Heads of Faculty will contact parents directly at other times of the year.
