Please note clubs may be subject to change at short notice, therefore the following list is a guide.

Our Library is open every day for pupils and students to read, undertake homework and study. Beechen Cliff Library offers a ‘safe’ place for pupils to study, do their homework, use the internet or simply unwind and read a good book.

Breakfast

Open every morning for all pupils and students in the Dining Hall, from 8.00am to 8.25am. Serving delicious, nutritious meals including full English breakfast, bacon sandwiches, baguettes, bagels and drinks. Why not come and join us?

 

Art Club – GCSE

This is an opportunity for all boys studying the GCSE Art and Design course to improve skills studied in lesson, to complete homework and to develop ideas with the support they may need.

Years 10, 11 & Sixth form every Thursday at 3:15pm – 4:00pm in Art Moore with Mrs Judd. Terms 1-6

 

Art Club 

A great opportunity to develop skills, explore new technique and processes in art or just complete any art homework. Come along and join us!

Airsoft Shooting Club

Bee Keeping 

The winter will be spent learning some of the facts and theories of bee-keeping and clearing the apiary site for the spring. From April we will have lots of hands-on extended time after school. We will be working towards the BBKA’s Junior Certificate. We have all the equipment you need other than gloves and wellies.

Codebreaking  

From the early October until Christmas we will meet weekly to have a go at cracking some fiendish puzzles. All welcome! We will be registering for the National Cipher Challenge. Further details at www.cipherchallenge.org

Combined Cadet Force  

CCF is each Wednesday evening throughout term time at King Edwards School.  CCF teaches self reliance and team building through adventurous activities.

Year 9 and above Wednesdays at 4:00pm – 6:00pm at Kind Edwards School with Mr Matheson. Terms 1 – 6

 

Computer Programming Club  

In this popular club, Pupils in all years are invited to come along to learn how to write computer programmes in a variety of languages.You can learn how to build your own games and websites or learn the basics of cybersecurity. No experience necessary – all welcome. Just drop in!

Design & Technology 

his is an opportunity for D&T students to prepare for their NEA component of the course.  The time will be spent accessing materials and processes that will support their coursework.  The session is open to both Mr Simmons’s and Mr Bakker’s group.

Design Ventura 

Design Ventura is a national design and enterprise challenge for students in years 9 and 10 supported by industry professionals. Students are challenged to design a new product for the Design Museum Shop with the winning product manufactured and sold at the shop. Work as a team to research, design and make your product.

Year 9 – 10 every Tuesday at 3:30pm – 4:20pm in T6 with Mr Bakker. Running from September through to November.

 

Equalities Team (E Team) 

The E Team run events and campaigns throughout the year to raise awareness and understanding of equality and diversity in our school community. Events include hosting guest speakers, cake sales and meetings with E Teams from other schools to share ideas, as well as regular meetings with Heads of House and SMT to share our ideas and initiate change. We are an open forum for equalities topics, and aim to represent the needs and opinions of students from all year groups in our work. We will meet regularly throughout the year. We always welcome new members!

Food Club 

This club meets on occasional Thursdays throughout the year. Activities will often relate to seasonal food and festivities e.g. Halloween, Christmas and Easter. Pupils will be given the opportunity to make a range of both savoury and sweet dishes and products.

Year 7 – 9  runs on occasional Thursdays at 3:30pm – 4:45pm in T3 with Mrs Roberts. Terms 1 – 6

 

French Film Club 

Although open to all years, French Film Club is a fantastic opportunity for students in year 10 and 11 studying GCSE French to come and effortlessly improve their understanding of the spoken language by watching a film in French after school.  The films will be subtitled so you will also increase your knowledge of vocab as well as learning more about French culture.  We have some amazing French films to show that cover all tastes. Homework Club 

Opportunity to get your homework done before leaving School, the library will be open every day with members of staff on hand to help with any homework difficulties. All are welcome to join!

Latin 

Year 9 students can sign to be part of the next cohort in term 6 and they will begin the course during the final term of the academic year.

MUSICAL Activities/Clubs

Music Choir 

This group rehearses throughout terms 1 and 2 in preparation for the Annual Carol Service in Bath Abbey. The repertoire reflects the traditional 9 lessons and Carols.

Chamber Choir 

Mainly 6 form, but keen singers welcome from all years.  Perform in Presentation Evening : Assembly rooms and Carol service : The Abbey. Relaxed and enjoyable while aiming to create an excellent sound and memorable experiences on these special occasions.

All Years every Monday 3:10pm – Finishing time flexible, (dependent on main choir rehearsal schedules) in Music Block with Mr Sillem. Terms 1 – 6

 

Music Concert Band

This is open to all wind players who are grade 3 and above. The repertoire ranges from original works through to popular arrangements. The group is one of the main ensembles in annual school concerts.

Music – Saxophone Group

This is open to all saxophone players who are grade 4 and above. The repertoire ranges from original works through to popular arrangements. The group performs in Assemblies, school concerts and on occasion outside of school.

Music Folk Group 

Open to all string players, guitarists, accordionists, whistle players etc of any ability. This dynamic group is in demand both at School and playing at events in the wider community.

Music – Guitar Ensemble

This ensemble is available to guitarists of Grade 2 ad above. We play a wide range of music form 16th Century lute music to rock classics. The guitar group perform and the carol service in Bath Abbey and also at the School concert each Spring.

All Years every Monday 3:30pm – 4:15pm This ensemble is for Year 7 musicians of any ability from beginners through to advanced.  It is a good opportunity for new pupils to get involved in the musical life of the School.  The repertoire ranges from classical to pop with a focus on improving ensemble skills. with Mr Clark. A new ensemble which focuses on a choice of music promoted by pupils.

This ensemble is open to all year groups. There is an informal audition. Players will be expected to have reached at least Grade 3 standard. The group regularly performs in assemblies, school concerts and the wider community.

A chance to watch a range of films with philosophical and ethical themes, which are designed to get us thinking and discussing some challenging ideas!

Senior Rugby Training

Training for those in years 12 and 13 who are committed to developing as a rugby player and intends to play in school matches against other schools.

Sixth Form every Monday and Friday 3:30pm – 5:00pm on the field with Mr Turner. Terms 1 -2

 

Year 7 Rugby Training 

Training aims to develop and enhance key skills in rugby, alongside preparing the boys for match days. All are welcome and will be give the opportunity to play. Please be aware that training will finish earlier during winter term as the light fades.

Rowing Club 

Rowing is on Thursday (ALL) and Tuesday (for those more serious). Sculling and Sweep Rowing. We aim to compete at the Avon Regetta, UK indoor ERG competition and Henley National Schools Event. Costs are number dependent and likely to be £22-28 per month depending on numbers.

Years 12 – 13 Thursdays 2:50pm – 4:10pm at Minerva Rowing Club with Mr Cooper, Mr Oldham, Ms Mather and Mrs Kirby. Terms 1 – 6

 

Rocketry Club

Rockertry Club willl be for designing and building model rockets and experimenting with designs, eventually aiming to take part in the national rocketry competition and compete with teams from other schools. As part of the club, pupils will learn about rockets, rocket science and a little about astronomy.

Science

Take part in fun science activities and projects from a range of sciences including Engineering. No need to come every week, drop ins always welcome.

Science Journal Club 

Learn how to read scientific journal articles. Discuss cutting edge scientific ideas and how science influences policy making. Great discussion points for your UCAS statements and university interviews.

Theatre Club

Theatre Club is a fantastic opportunity to meet like minded people and exercise your passion in dancing, singing and acting! No prior experience needed, just an enthusiasm to be on the stage. After the success of Guys and Dolls and Grease, this years musical will be announced in Theatre Club with auditions being held before October half term. Before then, pupils have an opportunity to learn numbers from the musical, and work out what type of role they might like in auditions. Come along and have a go!

Warhammer Club

All years are invited to join Mr Saunders on Tuesday afternoons 3.30pm to 5.00pm in English Block. Inviting members new and old – we have plenty of miniatures and scenery so do try and come along and enjoy gaming, painting and model-making. Everyone welcome!
