Homework

At Beechen Cliff we are very clear about the importance of homework.  We believe homework has huge benefits – it improves performance in lessons, enables positive reinforcement from teachers, improves attitudes towards lessons and develops pupils’ capacity to work independently.  Homework is set rigorously and the school has high expectations of pupils and the quality of the homework handed in to teachers.  There is also an expectation that parents will provide the encouragement, the resources and the quiet space to allow homework to be completed well.

Homework is set via Google Classroom, an online portal, which pupils and students have access to via the Student Intranet page: https://sites.google.com/beechencliff.org.uk/bcsstudent. Parents receive weekly summaries of their son or daughter’s homework via email, directly from Google Classroom. The first priority contact email address is automatically synced for this. Please contact headteacher@beechencliff.org.uk if you would like another parent or carer email address added.

Homework Support takes place every day after school, Monday-Friday, 3:20-4:20pm, in the Library. Homework Support is supervised time after school for pupils to receive additional support with homework.  Some pupils are directed to Homework Support on a basis of need and some attend voluntarily. There are desktop computers, work spaces, books and staff to support students with their homework.
