The Local Governing Body of Beechen Cliff School is looking to appoint two new community governors to join our dedicated team.  Beechen Cliff Schools is a local boys secondary school with a mixed sixth form.  We have been on a journey over the last few years to become more inclusive, to challenge preconceptions made about the school from outside and to develop our practice to offer children the best education possible.  We are committed to pupil and staff well being and the education we offer far exceeds the classroom with a rich opportunity to experience a variety of trips and challenges.
The role of a governor is varied and interesting as we seek to set the vision, monitor the delivery of the school improvement plan and support the school to be the best it can be as part of the Midsomer Norton Schools Partnership Multi-academy Trust.
We are looking for people who have an interest in education and will be committed to taking on this valuable voluntary role.  You will get full training in all matters connected with school governance and whilst the role is strategic, you will also receive an excellent view of how schools manage operationally.  It is a hugely satisfying and fulfilling role as governors work in partnership with the school to foster change for improvement and seeing pupils achieve not only their potential but exceed expectations.  It is an opportunity to develop your own skills of strategic leadership, chairing meetings, people skills and importantly governance.
The time commitment for this role will involve attending 6 Local Governing Body meetings per academic year, usually held in the early evening, potentially 2/3 link governor meetings during the school day per academic year and an occasional requirement to sit on Governors panels.  Whilst it is not a large time commitment, we do ask that every effort is made to be available for these times.
