Beyond The Classroom
“Boarders have access to a variety of activities and sports. Staff support them to reach their goals and have aspirations for their future.”
Ofsted Inspection, March 2020
Many boarders take part in sporting activities run by the school and also belong to clubs in the local community. House parents plan larger activities throughout the
school year, such as trips to theme parks, ice skating and activity weekends. Boarders look forward to these well-planned events. As part of the wider school,
boarders participate in charity fundraisers which benefit the community. House parents recognise the need for boarders to enjoy unstructured time and ensure the
boarding house is a welcoming and homely environment. Boarders receive encouragement to develop local friendships and to spend time in the local
community.

The extracurricular life at Beechen Cliff is a key part of the School’s identity. There is something to stretch and challenge every student in the School and every staff member contributes. It is an expectation that our boarding students take full advantage of the extracurricular activities offered. Some of the activities offered at Beechen Cliff are listed below:
School Clubs and Activities
A significant number of extra curricular activities take place throughout the year. Details are available via the link below:
School Trips
A large number of trips take place each academic year, some of which are local and others are further afield. Each trip is carefully planned to enrich the lives of our students and nurture their natural curiosity. Some of our trips are cultural such as Language visits to France or Spain, others are subject specific such as Geography field trips to the Mendips of the physics trip to CERN, and others are activity and skills related such as the Duke of Edinburgh Expeditions, the Centurion Challenge and Ten Tors.
Weekend Trips
A boarding house trip takes place once per half term. Boarders are involved in the planning of these trips and expected to attend to promote a sense of belonging and togetherness.
