The Beechen Cliff Tennis Programme runs all year round. This sees large numbers of our pupils involved with tennis at school and also plenty of success in school competitions.
In the Autumn and Winter Terms we enter teams in the Senior Students Competitions which enable players in Year 11 and the Sixth Form to represent the school.
From April to June we run after-school tennis practices for pupils in years 7-10 which all pupils are welcome to attend. We also enter 1st, 2nd, U15, U14, U13 and U12 teams in local leagues and national cup competitions. In addition players represent the school in Avon Schools competitions and in friendly fixtures against local schools.
Within school we also run internal competitions in the Summer Term including:
- Year 7 tournament
- U14 Road to Wimbledon competition for players in Years 8-9
- Senior Tennis Tournament for players in the Sixth Form
- House Tennis for Years 7-10 and the Sixth Form
Finally we have a link with Blue Sky Tennis, which aims to support the school in delivering our tennis programme and provide additional opportunities within tennis. This link has enabled us to run box leagues, tennis leaders courses and after-school tennis coaching sessions. Those who have completed their tennis leaders course have also had the opportunity to complete some coaching within the tennis programme.
