What is boarding life like?
Boarders are positive about the care and support that they receive. They say that they enjoy their boarding experience and are well looked after. Effective systems are in place, so everyone has a voice. Boarders say that they feel listened to. They state that leaders consider their wishes and views and take action. They feel supported across all aspects of their lives.
Ofsted Inspection, March 2020
Boarders feellistened to, valued, and like that they have a say in their care. They feel boundaries are reasonable and that there are opportunities for consultation and change. This
creates an environment they enjoy staying in. Leaders actively seek feedback from boarders and make changes as a result. They encourage boarders to pitch suggestions for developing the provision further to house parents.
Many boarders take part in sporting activities run by the school and also belong to clubs in the local community. House parents plan larger activities throughout the school year, such as trips to theme parks, ice skating and activity weekends.
Ofsted Inspection, December 2023
It is important to us that our boarding students lead busy and balanced lives. Our focus is that a balance is found for each and every student which allows them to develop fully in terms of their academic pursuits, extracurricular interests and social life. Boarders are encouraged to make the most of all the opportunities available at Beechen Cliff. Care and attention is given to every boarding student – the wellbeing of our students is of paramount importance.
Our boarding students embody the core values of the School – Aspiration, Balance, Compassion and Respect.
Boarders are encouraged to contribute to running activities and events, give input on menus and give their view points when boarding house systems are reviewed or changed. We also run twice yearly surveys of boarders to ensure their feedback is heard and can be considered by staff.
Our purpose built boarding house can house up to 32 boarding students. This community includes boarders across all year groups. Boarders share a bedroom in pairs and each bedroom has an en suite bathroom. The boarding house has a large lounge and games room, kitchen, laundry facility and a balcony with panoramic views.
